This Month’s Jams! (August 2022)

Adele - 30

Well, you could replace this record with any Adele record honestly. Her albums are always so pristine and mixed wonderfully. This record is no different and features great mixing by icons Tom Elmhirst and Serban Ghenea…and a drummer you might not recognize on pop records, Chris Dave.

Jo Dee Messina - I’m Alright

I'm Alright is the second studio album by American country music singer Jo Dee Messina. This 1988 release produced multiple platinum hits and solidified Messina as a country star. From a musical standpoint, this record is covered in A-List players. Brent Mason on guitar, Lonnie Wilson on drums, Michael Landau on guitar, Paul Franklin on steel, and many others. While this record has the certified hits, it really is a solid listen from start to finish and has all that great 90s country songwriting we all love.

Chris Young - I’m Coming Over

Alright, so sometimes I listen to a record purely for the mix. Granted, this record does have great players like Derek Wells, Miles McPherson, and even THE Vince Gill…but, Billy Decker really does a fantastic job on this mix. It’s wide, hard-hitting, and punchy. Decker is an in-the-box mix engineer and he really does produce a mix that competes at all levels. I’ve always enjoyed how Decker balances acoustic drums with electronic programming. They never feel like they are competing and always sit right where they should.
